- What is Samsung Pay?
Samsung Pay is a secure and easy-to-use mobile payment service which can be used to make purchases almost anywhere.
Leveraging a new proprietary technology called Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) and Near Field Communication (NFC), Samsung Pay makes mobile payment more accessible to both merchants and customers.
- How does Samsung Pay work?
Samsung Pay uses proprietary Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) and Near Field Communication (NFC) to make contactless mobile payments. MST and NFC enables the Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S8+, Galaxy S8, Galaxy A8+, Galaxy S7 edge, Galaxy S7, Galaxy S6 edge+, Galaxy Note5 and Gear S3 to make secure transactions with almost every card terminal in the world.

You can also use NFC payment capability to pay at supported contactless card reader with your Galaxy C9 Pro, Galaxy C7 Pro, Galaxy C5 Pro and Gear Sport.

- What do I need to use Samsung Pay?
To use Samsung Pay, you need:
A compatible Samsung device*

A supported payment card from a participating bank

A Samsung account

Registered iris, fingerprint or Samsung Pay PIN

To be located in the country of the participating card issuer**

*If compatible, newer devices will have Samsung Pay preloaded
**For the verification purposes, you should locate in the same region of the participating bank when adding a payment card in Samsung Pay
- Where can I download and install Samsung Pay?
Please obtain the Samsung Pay application with the procedure as described below.
Galaxy Note8, Galaxy S8+ and Galaxy S8 or later models

Samsung Pay is already preloaded on your device. If you're unable to find it, simply go to Google Play to download the app.

For other smartphones
    1. Go to Phone Settings
    2. Click "About Device"

    3. Tap "Download updates manually"

Samsung Pay will be installed with the Software Update. You can then tap on the Samsung Pay application as shown below in the App screen to install Samsung Pay.

For Gear smartwatch
   1. If you can't locate Samsung Gear App in your device, please install Samsung Gear App from Google Play Store or Samsung Galaxy Apps
   2. Launch Samsung Gear and select Gear smartwatch
   3. Tap on Open Samsung Pay from "Info" tab or "Samsung Pay" on Settings tab.
- Which Hang Seng Credit Card can I use with Samsung Pay?
The following credit cards are available to add in your Samsung Pay:
Hang Seng Credit Card, Affinity Card, Visa Commercial Card, Visa Business Card or Commercial MasterCard (excluding Hang Seng CUP Credit Card, USD Visa Gold Card, Renminbi Card, UnionPay Diamond Commercial Card, e-shopping MasterCard, Private Label Card and Spending Card).
- Does it cost anything to use Samsung Pay?
There is no additional cost to customers who use their Hang Seng Credit Card in Samsung Pay. However, your Hang Seng Credit Card’s terms and conditions will apply for purchases with Samsung Pay.
- What is Magnetic Secure Transmission™ (MST)?
Magnetic Secure Transmission™ or MST, is a groundbreaking method of sending data using magnetic waves. MST replicates a card swipe by wirelessly transmitting magnetic waves from the supported Samsung device to a standard card reader. MST turns every card reader into a contactless payment receiver.

However some card reader may not able to accept a MST based transaction due to software and hardware limitations.
- What is Near Field Communication (NFC)?
Near Field Communication or NFC is a method of wirelessly transmitting data using radio waves. Samsung Pay uses NFC to wirelessly transmit payment data to payment terminals with NFC readers that have been activated for use.
- What is the difference between MST and NFC technology?
For Samsung Pay, either MST or NFC technology can be used to make secure, contactless transactions. The key difference is that almost all merchants can accept MST, which makes Samsung Pay the most accepted mobile payment service on the market.

In the context of Samsung Pay, MST and NFC have the same level of security. The payment information transmitted by both MST and NFC is protected using tokenization.

How to add

- How can I add my Hang Seng Credit Card into Samsung Pay?
If you want to bind card, please call our Customer Service Hotline at the back of your card and press “7” after selecting language to complete mobile wallet provisioning.
- I have added a card to my smartphone. Will it automatically add it to my Gear smartwatch or vice versa?
No. You will need to add them to each device individually. The cards you have added can be accessed via the Samsung Pay or Gear Manager app on your device(s).
- Can I put multiple cards on a device?
Yes, Samsung Pay allows customers to put multiple cards on a device.
- Can I put my card on multiple devices?
Yes, you can add your card on multiple devices. Please note that your card must be added to each device separately.
- Can I continue to use my physical card after I added my Hang Seng Credit Card to Samsung Pay?
You may continue to use your Hang Seng Credit Card as you usually do after you added to Samsung Pay.

How to use

- How do I set my Hang Seng Credit Card as my default card for Samsung Pay?
There is no "default" card in Samsung Pay. When you open the app or activate the favourite cards by swiping up from the Home Key on supported screens, the first card displayed is either the last card you registered or the last card you viewed or used.
- How do I use my device to make a Samsung Pay transaction?
   1. Initiate Samsung Pay by either swiping-up on the screen or opening the Samsung Pay app.
   2. Select the card you want to pay with by swiping left or right.
   3. Authenticate using your iris, fingerprint or with the 4 digit Samsung Pay PIN. Place your phone to near the card reader or NFC reader to complete the transaction.
- Where can I use the Samsung Pay?
You can use Samsung Pay with your compatible device to pay in stores that accept contactless payments or with Samsung Pay logo.

Within apps you can simply tap the Samsung Pay button and authenticate with your iris, fingerprint or PIN to complete the payment.
- How will I know if a transaction was successful when paying with Samsung Pay?
The merchant can provide the related sales slip if your transaction was successfully paid. Moreover, you may receive the relevant notification and check the transaction history on your device later on.
- Do I still earn +FUN Dollars/Merchant Dollars/yuu Reward Points when I use Samsung Pay?
Yes, you can still earn +FUN Dollars/Merchant Dollars/yuu Reward Points when you pay with Samsung Pay. However, payment with Samsung Pay by using Hang Seng Credit Card is applicable to +FUN Dollars/Merchant Dollars Redemption for designated merchants ONLY. You can also redeem +FUN Dollars/Merchant Dollars by using your physical card during transactions.
- How do I return something I purchased using Samsung Pay?
All purchases made with Samsung Pay can be returned according to the store’s policies. If you return an item paid for with Samsung Pay, the store may require you to tap your phone onto either the card reader or the NFC reader to complete the return.
- Does Samsung Pay show my recent transactions?
Yes. You can also see the last 10 transactions for each card. Just tap the card in Samsung Pay, then tap the transaction record section for details.
- How will a Samsung Pay transaction appear on my statement/ e-Banking account?
“Samsung” or “Samsung Pay” will be displayed in monthly statement / e-banking if the transaction is done by Samsung Pay.

Managing your card

- What should I do if my Hang Seng Credit Card is lost or stolen?
If you find your Hang Seng Credit Card has been lost, stolen or compromised in any way, you should contact us immediately at 24-hour Report Lost Card Hotline 2836 0838. We will close your card immediately so that no more purchases can be made, and all digitized cards on your devices will be permanently deactivated. When you receive your reissued card, you will need to add the new card to Samsung Pay again before making any Samsung Pay purchases.
- What should I do if my device is lost or stolen?
If your device is lost or stolen, you can use Samsung’s Find My Mobile service to Lock Samsung Pay (remotely disable) or to Wipe Samsung Pay (remove all the payment cards registered onto your device). For details please visit https://findmymobile.samsung.com
- If I replace my device, what effect does it have on Samsung Pay?
If you replace your device, you will need to add your Hang Seng Credit Card in Samsung Pay.
- If I erase my device record, does that deactivate my physical card?
No. Erasing your device record will delete your Hang Seng Credit Card from Samsung Pay and does not affect your physical card. You will be still able to use your physical card.
- If I receive a re-issue Card with new card number, do I need to update my card information with Samsung Pay?
Yes. If you receive a new card with a new card number, you will need to add your new card in your Android Pay.
- If I receive a replacement Card with same card number, do I need to update my Card information with Samsung Pay?
No. If you receive a new card with the same card number, your Device Account Number is connected to your replacement card with the same number automatically. After receiving your new Hang Seng Credit Card, you can use your Card in Samsung Pay to make transactions.
- Can I remove my card in Samsung Pay?
You can delete your card by selecting the card in the Samsung Pay application, tap the menu icon at the top right hand corner, then tap "delete card".
- Is there any expiry date for the cards I added into Samsung Pay?
Yes. The expiry date is different from your physical card, for cards added into Samsung Pay, the validity is 3 years for Hang Seng MasterCard, while Hang Seng Visa Card is valid for 7 years. Please be reminded to delete the card by the expiry date and add again.
