Frequently Asked Questions

 

We currently accept cheques in Hong Kong dollars with cheque verification numbers from Hang Seng Bank Limited and HSBC.

You can deposit a maximum of HKD500,000 per day (defined as 17:30 on that day to 17:29 on the next settlement day (HKT)) and each cheque should be HKD100,000 or below.

You can deposit a maximum of 20 cheques per day (defined as 17:30 on that day to 17:29 on the next settlement day (HKT)). 

For mobile cheque deposited during settlement day before 5:30 p.m., the instruction will be processed on the same day;

For mobile cheque deposited on or after the cut-off time 5:30 p.m., or on a non-settlement day, the instruction will be processed on the next settlement day.

Please keep your physical cheques safe at least 180 days after submitting a deposit instruction even the funds are deposited into your account. 

Moreover, you can log in to Hang Seng Business Mobile App or Hang Seng Business e-Banking via desktop and check the updated balance under Account Overview for the status.

Please enable camera access from “Hang Seng Biz” in your mobile device Settings and try again.

You cannot deposit the same cheque more than once. If you have successfully deposited the cheque via Mobile Cheque Deposit, you should not deposit the cheque through other channels or platforms.

Likewise, if you have successfully deposited the cheque with us or other institutions, you are unable to use Mobile Cheque Deposit. If any ineligible application is found, the Bank reserves the right to revoke the deposit.

For Hang Seng Bank or HSBC cheque(s) issuer, you may receive SMS and e-mail notifications on the next day (Saturday inclusive) after the cheque receiver has deposited such cheque(s) via Mobile Cheque Deposit on a settlement day. Once you have received the notifications, you can confirm the latest settlement status by logging on and checking your latest balance under Account Overview on Hang Seng Business Mobile App or Hang Seng Business e-Banking via desktop.

If the cheque receiver deposits multiple cheques issued by you in his / her Current Account via Mobile Cheque Deposit, you will only receive SMS and e-mail notifications once per day.

If you have not registered for Hang Seng Business e-Banking, the corresponding SMS and e-mail notifications will only be sent to the contact person of your account, namely the Authorised Signer.

 

Please pay attention to the below tips when you are capturing the cheque image:

  • Make sure you have allowed the app to access your camera;
  • Make sure you have placed the cheque on a plain and dark background to avoid reflection;
  • Make sure you have kept the cheque within the white frame and wait until the green progress status circle fills up.

No, Mobile Cheque Deposit is free of charge.

In view of safeguarding the interests of both cheque issuer and receiver, the Bank reserves the right to revoke the deposit due to blurry cheque image.

Please ensure the image is complete and identifiable before submitting the deposit instruction.

Cheque verification number is a unique identification number printed on the left of the cheque face. The following types of cheque might not have cheque verification number:

  • Dividend cheque
  • Cashier’s orders
  • Custom printed cheque
  • Standard cheque printed in or before July 2009
